THIMAUD DE DRIESEN
Thimaud de Driesen (Senlis, 1991) is an Amsterdam-based filmmaker. He graduated with honours from HKU University of the Arts Utrecht in 2019 with his documentary From Ghetto to Parliament. His latest documentary, Tis maar eens per jaar, attracted over 13K cinema visitors in just two months and was awarded the Crystal Film Award.
Specialising in directing and editing, he has worked with production companies and creative agencies such as Magenta Films, Wolfstreet and Release Rebels. Equally comfortable working independently, he brings together his skills in directing, cinematography and sound recording, allowing him to operate as a versatile one-man film crew.
His passion for African music and its cultural stories shapes much of his work, inspiring films that challenge perspectives and connect people across cultures. That same curiosity and commitment extend beyond filmmaking. As founder of Karibu Events, he is also part of a growing movement celebrating African music in the Netherlands.
